Scheduling & hours

Operating hours, staff shifts and rotas, machine reservations, and the calendars that tie them together.

Scheduling in MakerOps covers three related things: when the space is open, when staff work, and when machines are reserved. They feed one unified calendar rather than three disconnected ones.

Operating hours

Set your space’s regular hours, special sessions, and closures. Sessions can be general-access or restricted to a group (“Members’ club until 10 PM”), and what’s current is visible to members in the app — including which access applies right now.

Staff shifts and rotas

Build staff schedules on a week-grid rota: shifts with times, assigned people, and duties (front desk, shop steward — your own list) plus the area of the space they cover. Recurring series generate shifts forward automatically.

  • Availability — staff draw their available hours on a week grid; scheduling respects it.
  • Swaps and cancellation — staff can swap shifts between themselves, and (per your policy) request or self-serve cancellation; an approved cancellation unassigns the shift so it’s visibly up for grabs.
  • Working-day awareness — reminder and task notifications follow the days each person actually works, not a blanket weekday assumption.

Machine reservations

Machines can expose bookable windows — from explicit weekly windows or derived from staffed hours — and members book slots in the app or on the web. With controllers installed, reservations and walk-up sessions reconcile at the machine: a scan during someone else’s reservation is refused, and a reservation-bound session ends with the booking.

Calendars everywhere

The unified /calendar view overlays the layers a person is allowed to see — hours, shifts, reservations, maintenance, events. Every calendar is also available as an ICS subscription feed, so shifts and bookings land in Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar and stay updated. All scheduling math respects your space’s time zone.
