Getting started

Create your MakerOps space, turn on the modules you need, and bring in your first people.

MakerOps is organized around a space — your makerspace’s own tenant, with its own people, equipment, and settings, reached at your space’s address under app.makerops.ai. One organization with genuinely separate facilities (say, two buildings with different staff and equipment) typically runs one space per facility.

Create your space

  1. Sign up at app.makerops.ai/signup. The person who creates the space becomes its first administrator.
  2. The onboarding wizard walks you through the basics: your space’s name, time zone, and operating profile. You can revisit everything later in Settings.
  3. Optionally load sample data to explore with, then clear it when you’re ready to go live.

Turn on what you need

MakerOps is modular. Equipment and maintenance, inventory, training and credentialing, scheduling, events, machine access control, billing — each is a module you enable or leave off, and the navigation only shows what’s on. Start small: most spaces begin with People, Equipment, and Training, then add the rest as workflows settle.

Bring in your people

Invite staff and members by email from the People area; each invitation carries the roles the person should land with. Members can accept on the web or directly in the MakerOps mobile app — accepting in the app signs them straight in. If your institution uses single sign-on, SSO can be connected so people use their campus or company accounts, and self-registration can be enabled for spaces that want an open front door.

The mobile app

The MakerOps app for iOS and Android is how members interact with the space day to day — starting machine sessions, viewing schedules and training, reporting problems. Staff get their own tools in the same app. See The mobile app.
